Dondo-Yaki / Purification by fire / Circulation concept in Shinto

Dondo-Yaki is a fire ceremony for New Year's ornaments in Shinto(Nature worship).
It is held around January 15.
Generally, after use Ofuda in KamidanaShimenawa-KazariKadomatsu are burned at local shrine.
In old times, Japanese people burned even handmade, plain Kamidana every year.
Current Japanese people don't dispose Kamidana because it is expensive and gorgeous.
However, they need to clean dusts on Kamidana constantly.

In Shinto, people always prepare new things.
The "Always New" or "Cycle" concept is Shinto's main stream.
It is called "Tokowaka".
Tokowaka is a kind of a circulation of nature.
Even Japan's important two shrines are rebuild every 20 years for many reasons.

Japanese are sensitive to dirtiness too.
Uncleanness is called "Kegare" and it means material germs and spiritual impurity both.
So, most Japanese prefer something new to antiques.
Old thing has an invisible, tired energy.
Especially, you need to be careful with stones of Jewerly.
Stones absorb owner's thinking very well.
Many people are exposed by own or former owner's bad thinking without realizing.
