Japanese New Year's Rice Porridge / Nana-kusa gayu / January 7

On January 7, Japanese eat "Nana-kusa-Gayu", rice porridge of 7 kinds of vegetables.

The porridge warms and heals a tired stomach.
These 7 vegetables are called "Haru no Nanakusa".
It means spring 7 herbs of Japan.
Seri, Nazuna, Gokyo, Hakobera, Hotokenoza, Suzuna, Suzushiro...
Japanese kids used to recite the name of the seven herbs.
Japanese also have Mochi rice cake party on January 11th or 15th.
